Monoshark built the Sharkspan app as a free app. This SERVICE is provided by Monoshark at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page informs visitors of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information for anyone who uses our Service.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

The Short Version

Sharkspan has no account and no sign-in. What you enter is kept on your device, and Monoshark never receives it.

Information Collection and Use

To do its arithmetic, Sharkspan asks you for information such as the number you set for your span and the time you record as already spoken for. That information is retained only by your device. It is not transmitted to Monoshark, and Monoshark holds no copy of it.

The app also keeps a few counters of its own on your device - for example, how many times it has been opened, and which of its sayings it has already shown you. They exist so the app can behave consistently from one launch to the next. They never leave your device either.

If an earlier version of this app left your information on your device, Sharkspan carries that information over the first time it starts, so that you do not have to enter it again. That happens entirely on your device.

Sharkspan asks for no system permissions. It does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, photos, health data, or notifications.

Internet Connections

Sharkspan makes no internet connections. The app contains no code that sends or receives data over a network, so nothing you enter, and nothing about how you use the app, is transmitted anywhere - not to Monoshark, and not to anyone else.

The Widget

Sharkspan includes a widget. The app and the widget share the information you entered through a private storage area on your own device, so that the widget can display it. That sharing happens entirely on your device.

Device Backups

Like most apps, Sharkspan's information is included in the backups your device makes of itself - iCloud Backup, or a backup to your computer - so that restoring a device brings your span back. Those backups are made and held by Apple or by you, under your own Apple account and Apple's terms, and Monoshark has no access to them. You control them in your device settings.

Data Deletion

Because the information you provide is retained only by your device, deleting the app permanently deletes it. The app also offers a way to start over from inside the app, which deletes everything you entered after asking you to confirm. Nothing is retained by Monoshark, because nothing was ever sent to Monoshark. Any device backup that still holds a copy is yours to manage.

Third-Party Services

Sharkspan embeds no third-party service, analytics, or advertising software. Apple may process standard, anonymized information (such as crash reports) according to the terms you agreed to with Apple; see Apple's privacy policy for details. That processing is between you and Apple, and Monoshark receives no personal information from it.

Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, and Similar Laws)

Because the information you provide is retained only by your device, Monoshark holds no personal data about you, with one exception: if you write to us, we hold your message and your email address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of the exchange. For the information in the app, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or port in response to a data-subject request under the GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws - you exercise those rights directly, by managing or deleting the data on your device. For anything you have sent us, write to the address below. If you have any privacy question or concern, you can always contact us there.

Children's Privacy

Sharkspan does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
